The University of Jos has appointed a new Registrar in person of Mr. Danjuma Jilli-Dandam. His appointment followed the recent interview conducted for the post at the expiration of the tenure of the former Registrar, Mr. Zingfa Galam. His recommendation for appointment was subsequently ratified by the university’s Governing Council for a term of five years, which is renewable.
A statement signed by the Deputy Registrar (Information and Publication), Mr. Steve Otowo said Jilli-Dandam whose appointment takes effect from June 24, 2010 was the Deputy-Registrar in charge of Senior Staff Establishment in the university before his appointment.
Jilli-Dandam, 53, a career university administrator and lawyer, began his administrative career in the University of Jos as an Administrative Officer II in 1982 and steadily rose to the position of Deputy-Registrar in 2003.
He has held many positions in the various administrative units of the University which, among others, included Faculty Officer; Admissions Officer; Assistant Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office; Alumni Relations Officer; and Secretary, Institute of Education.
He obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Combined Honours) degree from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria in 1980 and has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration as well as a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Jos. He is also a 2003 Graduate of the Nigerian Law School.
The new registrar who is currently a member of the Governing Council of the College of Arts, Science and Technology, Kurgwi and hails from Gazum, Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State. He married with four children.
