MASS COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT GETS STUDENTS’ LIBRARY

Students of the Department of Mass Communication of the University of Jos have established a departmental library in collaboration with the Department. The library was  commissioned recently by Dean, Faculty of Arts of the institution, Prof. Umar Danfulani.

The Dean while commissioning the library commended the students for exhibiting such a high sense of responsibility. He believed that any project initiated by students will stand the test of time as “they will not use their hands to destroy what they built with their own resources.”

Professor Danfulani said with the library in place, he is hopeful that the department will gain full re-accreditation and that he would personally donate some books to the department for use in the library.

He noted with pleasure that the commissioning was his first official assignment since he assumed office as Dean of Arts in November.

Head, Mass Communication Department Dr. Christy Best also expressed delight at the birth of the library pledging the department’s support to stock it with more books for the benefit of staff and students.

Also speaking  President Association of Mass Communication Students (AMCOMS), Clement Gyang said the library project was the association’s humble contribution to the effort to take the young department to greater heights.

He said the library which was made possible by the contribution of students of the department would assist undergraduate and postgraduate students in their research.
