A 200-level Linguistics student of the University of Jos, Akio Precious Ilami has emerged winner of the 2010 of Next Movie Star Africa Competition. Ifeanyi Williams emerged the first runner up ahead of Princess Shyngle of Gambia was the second runner up while Boma Ake was third runner up, all winning various prizes.
The contestants who were camped at the Next Movie Star House since November 10 all demonstrated their talent as potential movie stars with Akilo adjudged the best through her outstanding performances at the various stages of the competition.
“I can’t believe this. I can’t believe I am the Next Movie Star. Is this a dream?”, she was quoted as saying in reaction to her emergence as winner.
Executive Producer of the competition, Sola Fajobi described all the contestants as bundles of talent in their own right which made the choice of a winner difficult.
According to him, “the house mates were conscious of the fact that they needed to dig into the depth of their talents which made it very difficult to determine the eventual winner but only one person could win at the end of the day and the lucky person is Akio Ilami.”
