The Department of Mass Communication of the University of Jos has constituted a students’ media team with a call on members to be committed to the assignment.
Head of Department Dr. (Mrs.) Christiana E. Best made the call while inaugurating the 60-member media team for both the Unijos Echo Online newspaper and the Unijos Campus FM run by the department.
She advised the members to see it as an opportunity to learn and improve their practical knowledge in line with the university’s motto which emphasizes the pursuit of excellence.
Best said it is a challenging and tasking responsibility and urged them to be prepared to make the necessary sacrifice to make the radio station and the online newspaper the best. She added that that a follow up to the online workshop organized for staff and students of the department sometime back is being planned to further equip them with necessary skills.
Staff Editor of the online newspaper, Mr. Taye Obateru urged them to be versatile in their reportage and stressed the need for teamwork to achieve maximum productivity.
Coordinator of the Unijos Campus FM Mr. Dan Mallum, on his part, called for dedication to duty and assigned various responsibilities to prepare the team for immediate activities at the radio station which is currently on test transmission.
