University of Jos is turning out a total of about seven thousand graduands at its 24th Convocation with seven students coming out with first class.
Giving the breakdown of the graduates at a pre-convocation press confernce, the Vice Chancellor Professor Sonni Tyoden said 2,549 bagged Diplomas and certificates, 3,850 bagged Bachelor’s degrees from the nine faculties in the university, 105 graduated from the Faculty of Medical Sciences and 103 from Pharmaceutical Sciences.
At the post graduate level, 41 bagged Ph.Ds, 233 Masters and 43 post graduate diplomas.
The Vice Chancellor stated that this year’s convocation lecture delivered bythe Executive Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) Dr. (Mrs.) Ifueko Omoigui Okauru was the first by a woman in the history of the university.
He described the uplifting of the University of Jos in global reckoning as his greatest Achievement as vice chancellor of the university.
He said which was relatively obsure while he assumed office has risen in global ranking to 48th in Africa and the second best in Nigeria and sixty six in Africa.
