SCHALKE 04 SACKS INTER MILAN

Schalke 04 has eliminated the 2009/2010 UEFA Champions League holder Inter Milan after beating the Italian champions 2-1 at Veltins-Arena on Wednesday to complete a 7-3 aggregate victory.

Highest goal scorer in the European competition, Raul Gonzalez gave the German team the lead in the 45th minute.
Italian International Thiago Motta equalised for Inter Milan early in the second-half after hitting the ball over the line at close range.

Defender Benedikt Hoewedes wrapped it up for Schalke 04 in the 81st minute with a brilliant strike. Schalke 04 will play Manchester United on Tuesday April 26 in the semi-finals of the competition.

At the White Hart Lane, the nine times European champion Real Madrid set a titanic Champions League semi-finals for Wednesday April 27 with their Arch-rivals FC Barcelona after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in second leg of UEFA Champions League quarter-final on a 5-0 aggregate.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes allowed a long range shot from Cristiano Ronaldo to bounce out of his hands in the 50th minute and failed to retrieve the ball as it bounced agonizingly over the line.
