A professor of Public Health Entomology, Hayward Babale Mafuyai has been appointed the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos by the institution’s Governing Council to succeed the incumbent, Prof. Sonni Tyoden whose tenure expires on June 12.
A statement by the university’s Registrar, Mr. Danjuma Jilli-Dandam said the Governing Council took the decision at its Eighth Regular Meeting held on Wednesday May 4 during which it considered the report of the Council/Senate Selection Board for the appointment of a new vice chancellor.
“The Council in accordance with the powers conferred on it by the provisions of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provision) Amendment Act 2003, considered the three candidates recommended to it by the Selection Board and appointed Professor Hayward Babale Mafuyai as Vice-Chancellor, University of Jos”, the statement said.
It was learnt that total of 11 professors attended the interview out of which three were recommended to the council for consideration.
