35 NEW PHARMACISTS INDUCTED

Thirty-five graduate Pharmacists of the University of Jos have been inducted into the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria with a call on them to uphold the ethics of the profession.
Administering the oath, the 29th induction and oath taking ceremony held at the Multi-purpose Auditorium of the university Registrar of the Pharmaceutical Council of the Nigeria, Ahmad Mora congratulated the graduands reminding them that the industry is challenging one where they must strive to prove their worth.
He added that the inductees will proceed on a one year internship program where they are expected to bring to bear the knowledge they acquired while in school.
Earlier in his remark the Acting Vice Chancellor University of Jos, Professor Ibrahim Musa said the University has approved the commencement of Doctorate degree program for the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
He urged them to be worthy ambassadors of the University in their field and wished them well in their future endeavor.
Dean of the faculty, Professor J.C Aguiyi said the faculty has witnessed tremendous growth academically attributing it to the commitment and dedication of staff.
He said an accreditation team from the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria would soon visit to accredit some courses run by the faculty and expressed optimism that it would open up new opportunities for the faculty.
The inductees donated the sum of N170,000 to the faculty for the purchase of reagents for the laboratory.
A cross section of the new pharmacists who were beautifully dressed in their academic gown and full of enthusiasm, expressed gratitude to their lecturers for impacting them with the knowledge and promised to take pharmacy practice to an enviable position.
Dignitaries at the occasion included principal officers of the university, members of the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria, parents and other members of the university community.
