The 100 level students male football team of the Department of Mass Communication has won the 2011 Head of Department’s (HOD) cup, defeating the 400 level team 4-1 at the Jerry Useni Stadium.
Striker Mark Dajan put the junior class in the lead in 10th minute and the highest goal scorer of the tournament Itakpa Frank made it two in the 14th minute of the match.
Midfielder Dingse Phillip shattered the dream of the 400 level team further when he scored from a long range shot in the 18th minute while Markus Rocomp made it four goals with a wonderful free kick in the 35th minute of the match.
Ugwu Jude gave the 400 level fans something to cheer, when he converted a brillant pass from team captain Zongo Mworina in the 43rd minute.
In athletics, Djukpan Onome, a 400 level student won the 100 meters men with 11:25 seconds while Istifanus Chollom of 300 level and Tarkumbul Isaiah of 400 level came second and third with 11:34 and 11: 37 seconds respectively.
German Anastasia of 100 level won the female 100 meters and Mefolere Kehinde (300 level) and Sarah Idoko (400 level) came second and third.
The quartet of Djukpan Onome, Tarkumbul Isaial, Ambore Ibrahim and Dakat Grateful of 400 level won the men relay race, 100 level team came second, 300 level third while 200 level placed.
In the female relay race, 300 level came first while 200 level and 100 level were second and third respectively.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of the HOD cup to the 400 level captain.
