The University of Jos has trained four members of staff of the Advancement Office in the United Kingdom in an effort to improve alumni relations.
The Alumni Relations Officer, Mr. Adoration Dashit told Unijos Echo that they were sent abroad to acquire more ICT skills needed to improve the standard of the university’s Alumni relation activities.
He added that the trainees have since returned to become trainers and recently organised a three-day workshop for staff of the Advancement Office.
Another staff of the Advancement Office, Miss Sarah Jarikre, said the office is charged with the responsibility of projecting the image of the University internationally, and serves as a link between the school and its Alumni.
Jarikre, who is a communication officer in the office, pointed out that the workshop was “a bit technical but at the same time, interesting.”
She listed the benefits of the workshop to include the ability of the Advancement Office to handle Alumni data effectively and proper management of events and donor funds.
She added that the in-house training was necessary because “the world is growing into a paperless society.”
