A new executive committee of the Association of Mass Communication Students (AMCOMS) University Of Jos has been elected for the 2011/2012 academic session.
The elections were conducted in accordance with the Constitution of the association. The Students Electoral Committee, headed by a 400 level student, Emmanuel Mwarangshak, handled the electoral process in collaboration with Staff Advisers of the department.
A 300 level student, Richard Maiwada got 214 votes to emerge as President while 200 level Gift Nwachukwu garnered 173 votes to emerge as the Vice-President.
The elections also saw Bayo Joseph emerging as Secretary General, Utibe Abasi Okon as Assistant Secretary General, Lengmi Joshua as Treasurer and Nanbel James as Financial secretary.
Other elected are Oyerinde Wisdom as Director of Socials, Kaitako Dennis Alexander as Director of Sports, Bonny Vera Jemima as Welfare Secretary and Beutsen Maurice Momoh as PRO.
The new President in an interview with Unijos Echo, said ‘’I am overwhelmed with the mandate. I promise to put AMCOMS first and strive to achieve all that I have promised’’.
Ballots counted at the end of the election indicated that 332 students out of a registered 662 turned up to vote.
