A Programme Officer of Carnegie Corporation, USA, Mrs. Andrea Johnson has hailed the involvement of students in the activities of the Unijos Campus FM.
She gave the commendation during a visit to the station a part of her visit to the university.
Johnson who is in charge of the Western Region of Africa commended the University of Jos and the Department of Mass Communication for innovations and efforts in making good use of the grants given to them by Carnegie Corporation for strengthening communication capacity within the university community and the outside world.
She noted that University of Jos is the first in Nigeria to have a digitalized radio station operating effectively with experienced officers manning it.
She was delighted at the fact that students were also involved in the broadcasting process especially those from the Department of Mass Communication and others who have what it takes.
She subsequently featured on a live interview session on issues surrounding the activities of the Jos Carnegie Partnership Committee (JCPC) in the university.
Present during the visit were the Chairperson, JCPC, Dr. Patricia Lar, Executive Director of Advancement Office, Professor Victor Dugga, Head. Department of Mass Communication, Associate Prof. Christy Best, Coordinator of the FM Station, as well as other members of staff and students of the Mass Communication Department.
