The Department of Mass Communication University of Jos has received a gift of a brand new Canon 6030 photocopier from its 2010/2011 graduating students as their ”
leave-a-legacy” gesture.
The presentation was made on Monday, September 13 to the Head of Department, Dr. Mrs. Christy Best.
Dr. Best expressed satisfaction with the gesture saying, “This is a demonstration of your responsibility and thoughts for the department. It is a big encouragement to us and we appreciate you”.
Speaking on behalf of the students, a representative of the 2010/2011 class, Esther Nyam said the token was a way of acknowledging the department’s contribution to their academic attainment.
Nyam expressed hope that the photocopier, which would be placed in the department’s library, would go a long way towards reducing the cost of buying books as well as discouraging vandalism of library books by students.
The class had earlier presented an award to their Level Co-ordinator and lecturer, Dr. John Galadima in recognition of his “fatherly disposition” towards them.
Thanking them for the honour, Dr. Galadima pointed out that it was rewarding to see his students appreciate his efforts and maintained that it would serve as a propeller for greater dedication to service.
He also entreated the students to ”always keep in touch with the department” as they move on to greater heights.
