The University of Jos has inducted 62 new pharmacists with a call on them to portray their alma mater in the best possible light.
Inducting the pharmacists, the Registrar, Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria, Ahmed Mora, charged them to anchor their practice on humility, honesty and fear of God.
“You are beginning a journey that would lead you to the brighter side of life so don’t wait for a perfect time because there can never be one. You have indeed made a right choice and only honesty, humility and the fear of God can sustain you through it”, he said.
In his welcome address, the Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prof John Aguiyi said the faculty would continue to contribute its quota to the building of the nations’ health sector.
He explained that insufficient manpower and other logistics could hamper this dream and therefore called on the alumni of the faculty and other well meaning Nigerians to support her in overcoming the challenges.
In a valedictory message on behalf of his colleagues, the best graduating student, Emmanuel Onyekachi, said “we got the most and best training from this first class rated pharmaceutical faculty and now is the time for us to prove it by being noble ambassadors of the faculty.”
Emmanuel Onyekachi, who had a CGPA of 4.59 received N50,000 cash donation from an elated parent who was proud of his achievement.
The elated best graduating student attributed his success to “determination and God” in an interview with Unijos Echo.
