It was an outpouring of emotions for members of the Association of Mass Communication Students (AMCOMS) as they held a procession in memory of Emeine Joy Adamu, a 300 level student who died after a brief illness.

Tears flowed freely as staff and students of the department mourned the loss of the student described as humble and easy going.

Speaking at the procession held a procession at the permanent site of the university. the 300 Level Coordinator, Mr Raymond Goshit, said it was a painful loss especially when the class lost another student last year.

According to him, “whatever you do, you are planting a seed and that seed will surely speak good or bad. It is very important that we are missed when we depart this world. Learn to sow good because it pays in the end “.

The class representative, Reuben Timnan in an emotion-laden voice described Joy’s death as sad.

“it is a painful loss for the whole class as Joy was known for her cheerfulness.  Joy preferred a particular seat in the class and due to her gentle nature everyone had come to associate her with the seat. So it was surprising when her seat became vacant on that Friday and we were all wondering why she was late for lecture, only for the sad news of her death to hit us”, he said.

A friend and classmate of the late student, Tinuke Jimoh, described late Joy as a motivation to her life. Tinuke could, however, not complete her eulogy as she broke down in tears, triggering similar emotion from other students also broke down in tears.

A prayer was later said for late Joy’s family and for the department. Joy who died from typhoid fever was laid to rest in Oturkpo Benue State.
