It was a beehive of activity at the Multipurpose Hall of the University of Jos Wednesday as an NGO named “Agents for Change Initiative” came calling with its awareness campaign on the need for the Nigerian youths to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of their country.
The Agency whose mission statement reads: “To Increase and nurture a generation that will birth the Nigeria of our dream and that of our forefathers by the orientation of the Nigerian child”, is a brain-child of Miss Gladys Aghogho Okpomor, a women leader based in Jos.
In an interview with Unijos Echo Online, Miss Okpomor stressed that her team was at the University of Jos because any meaningful changes in a nation start with the well-informed student. She explained that the choice of Unijos was to gain access to conscious youths in their numbers in order to get them to fully participate in the organisation’s programme as partners in progress.
According to her, “The major objective is to bring up our youths and give them training on how to be independent since the so-called leaders have been promising and not fulfilling”.
A cross-section of students interviewed expressed appreciation for the opportunity while showing willingness to participate by being members.
Forms were distributed to the multitude of students in attendance as they were encouraged to become vibrant members of the organization for the betterment of their moral lives.
