NUASA Elects New EXCO

The Nigerian Universities Accounting Students Association (NUASA), University of Jos chapter has on Friday elected a new set of EXCO that will help further the cause of unionism in the department, on campus and in the university as a whole for the next one year.

Announcing the result some hours after voting ended, at the University’s permanent site venue of the election, the electoral committee unveiled the new executive council as follows; Jeftha Nenpin Johnson as President, Matthew Makut Maren as Secretary-General, Emmanuel Adoka Ochokwunu as Director of Socials, while Bala Fatima and Dickson Ochimana are to serve as Treasurer and Auditor-General respectively among others.

In an interview with echoonline, the President-Elect, Mr Jeftha Nenpin a 300l student, expressed his gratitude over his victory during the election indicating that his vision will be “in line with that of the founding fathers of the Association which is to establish a harmonious relationship, to stand with its members in unionism and to build a NUASA that speaks with one voice”.

The new helmsman added that leadership is not all about making changes promising that his administration will ensure prudent management of resources, cut down running cost and introduce programmes that will benefit students academically by establish a departmental library.

The Director of Socials, Emmanuel Adoka Ochokwunu, in his own part said that his office is attached with a letter head which will give him an opportunity to source for funds outside and not depend on the departmental dues paid by students. He promised to bring the social life of the students alive even as they strive to maintain academic vibrancy.

According to a NUASA member who pleaded anonymity, the election was successful as there were no cases of rigging. He expressed his happiness with the new set of officials especially the president who had served as PRO in the immediate past leadership and had performed above expectation, hence their decision to vote him.
