UNIJOS CONDUCTS STUDENTS/STAFF AUDIT

The University of Jos has conducted a six-day audit exercise of staff and students in line with a directive from National Universities Commission (NUC) to all universities in the country.

During the exercise, students were seen queuing up before the board room of their respective faculties in order to be “cleared”.

The required document for students were school fees receipts since admission, admission letter, biodata form, and school identity card.

Also, a form requiring information about students’ past education and other data was to be completed and submitted to the screening panel.

Some of the students described the process as stressful. Ayobami Kojah, a 200-level student of mass communication told Unijos Echo Online that her major challenge before she could be screened was printing her admission letter, which she said was a basic requirement.

Despite the challenges, however, the audit was successful as all students were expected to have been screened.

The screening was also conducted for different categories of non-academic staff of the university.

The academic staff did not present themselves for screening following a directive from the national body of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

A lecturer in the Faculty of Arts, Mr. Francis Leman confirmed this saying, “ASUU directed us not to participate in the screening due to reasons best known to them”.
