Plans have reached advanced stage for the Students’ Week’ of the University of Jos organised by the Student Union Government (SUG) of the institution.
Scheduled to hold from July 15 to and 21, 2013, the week is expected to foster unity among students of the institution.
Chairman of the publicity committee for the week, Comrade Oseruvwoja Tohwo told Unijos Echo Online that the week would feature a peace rally, a public lecture on what is affecting the society today, security threats in the country, religious and cultural aspects of life, among others.
According to him, “the aim of the students’ week is to bring unity among students and discard any form of division that has prevailed in the institution”.
He said the publicity committee has paid courtesy visits to different media houses in Jos for partnership towards the up-coming students’ week.
Tohwo said during one of such visits to Daar Communication PLC, the General Manager of Daar Communication PLC. Mr. Steven Ayua was pleased with the committee’s visit, and pledged his station’s support.
He also quoted him as assuring them that their doors are always open for various unions and students, especially for publicity concerning positive issues as they stand to serve humanity.
He promised that the students’ week would be an event to remember as it will touch on the four basic elements of life (education, spiritual, physical, and social), and reiterated the confidence of the S.U.G in achieving unity at the end of the week.
