The Association of Mass Communication Students (AMCOMS), University of Jos, has held a procession in honour of late miss. Josephine Gofwen, a 100 level student of the department who died in a ghastly motor accident on December 24 last year. She was traveling to Pankshin from Jos when the accident occurred.
Dressed in black, the students sang mournful songs as the procession, which began from the Sky Bank Hall, took them through the library complex, down the education block and back to the hall where prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of the deceased.
A friend of the deceased, Destiny Dickson, said, “Josephine was a quiet and humble girl who, when alive kept to herself and never quarreled with anyone in class”. Destiny, who is visually impaired, said he misses her, noting with pains how the deceased often assisted him while alive.
“Josephine would help me to take a taxi home after school and thereafter would rush back to go and pick her aunty’s children”, he lamented.
Late Josephine’s class representative, Emmanuel Kalu also, lamented her demise, describing her as a vibrant young lady who was calm, peaceful and easy-going.
AMCOMS President, Adams Ijah described Josephine as a rare gem noting that the testimonies heard so far about her life have been excellent. He prayed God to comfort the bereaved family who are still in deep shock as a result of the loss.
AMCOMS officials in company of the 100 Level Coordinator, Mrs Comfort Bulus and some of the deceased classmates had earlier visited the family of the deceased at Dogon Karfe, Jos to share in their grief.
The class representative of the deceased Mr Emmanuel Kalu in his condolence message encouraged the family to trust God in their trial times and take solace in the fact that Josephine lived a good life. He said the class will continue to cherish each moment of her presence in their hearts.
Also the AMCOMS president extended the condolence of the department to the family after which a minute silence was observed in honour of the deceased.
Responding on behalf of the family, the sister of the deceased was glad that the department took time to identify with them in their trial moment and expressed gratitude to the department for their concern.
