The National Association of Building Students (NAOBS) University of Jos Chapter has elected a new executive council led by Nimzing Nimfa who was elected President.
The new officers emerged after an election held at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and would run the association for the next one year with most of the officers unopposed.
Only the posts of president and financial secretary were contested as the other positions had single candidates.
Others who emerged were Anaiye Osigbodi as Vice-president, David Terngu Msugh as Secretary-general and Akim Cupiya, Assistant Secretary-General.
Dukwa Laktu Theophilus was elected Financial Secretary, Namo Adigizi as the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ishaya Sarah Gajere as the Treasurer while Paulina Ijowoche became the Director of Socials. The post of the Director of Sports had no contestant.
The electoral committee chairman, Ngal Pokyes Dauda, who is also a 500 level final year student of the department, expressed satisfaction with the election which, he said, was peaceful and coordinated.
A 100 level student of the department, Nathaniel Izang, after casting his vote told Unijos Echo Online that the election was transparent and fair enough.
The president-elect of NAOBS, while responding on behalf of the winners of the election reiterated that he will make the students proud by fulfilling his campaign promises.
