Development of personal entrepreneurial skills through hard work and knowledge acquisition has been described as the secret behind every successful business.

This was the standpoint of a resource person and motivational speaker Mr. Victor Kuchili at the seminar organized by the Association of Mass Communication Students (AMCOMS) in collaboration with the office of the Face of Mass Communication to kick start the AMCOMS week held recently.

Speaking on the topic “Pen for a Purpose; Building the C.E.O in You” Kuchili said a pen is just a pen if no value is attached to it adding that the pen can only be resourceful when engaged.

He urged students to be creative and innovative in their imagination by thinking out ideas that will help their community and help in solving the world’s problem.

Kuchili noted that, developed countries are thriving because the economy is run by the ideas of the people, encouraging young minds to attach value to whatever they have.

According to him, entrepreneurs are the forerunners of any developed economy because business success is neither by mistake nor an accident and corrected the misconception that people go into business because there are no jobs.

He said people should go into business because they believe that the business can help in solving people’s problems stressing that investing in learning to acquire knowledge is key for any successful entrepreneur.

The guest speaker identified three needs system that chief executives should have in mind which are, availability of resources, believing in the capacity to engage the resources and bias for action which discourage the idea of procrastination.

The Head of the Department, Dr. Sarah Lwahas congratulated the students on their week, urging them to develop a team spirit and learn how to manage people by treating them based on their strengths as no business can thrive without the effort of others.

The seminar featured a lecture on graphic design, web development and photo editing by a student of the department Stella Uzoma.

Lecturers and students were in attendance and three titles were donated to the AMCOMS library by the guess speaker to enable students to develop their personal skills.
