The Faculty Officer of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Barrister B.J Dakas, has admonished the newly admitted students into the Faculty to be hardworking and diligent in their studies.

She said this during the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Students’ Association (FAHSA) Welcome Special and Orientation at the Unity Auditorium in the Faculty building, Naraguta Campus which UNIJOS ECHO witnessed a massive turnout of both new and returning students as well as lecturers and departmental heads.

The Faculty President, Emmanuel Nankham, gracefully welcomed all the students as he also acknowledged the presence of staff of the Faculty.

Mr. Lucky Fadam, the first guest speaker and a lecturer in the Department of Theater and Film Arts popularly known by students as “know your selling point” gave a talk on how to be a student activist on campus. The former Theater and Film Arts Student leader said that if a student must keep standing and be confident, he or she must know his or her selling point.

The second guest speaker, Dr. Mrs. Akirime, spoke on morality and academic excellence. Dr. Akirime told the new students that morality has to do with how one comport his or herself ethically in the society. She encouraged the students to portray good morals even as it deals with respecting their course mates, lecturers, cleaners and security officers on campus ‘because these group of people will help you achieve the purpose why you are in school’.

Dr.  Akirime laid emphasis on sincerity saying that ‘it is the gateway to actualizing good success’. She also stressed on decent dressing, staying away from evil associations and discipline with their use of time which she considers as paramount.

Other side attractions and areas of entertainment were not left out as students got thrilled with performances from the Voice of J-town and also from students from the music department.
