The Baptist Students’ Fellowship UniJos recently organized a picnic at the Solomon Lar Amusement Park where Rev. Daniel Ogundayo, the Undershepherd of the Calvary Baptist Church, Naraguta, highlighted the importance of having “time out outside the church premises” as this will enable members to know each other more and relate well even outside the church.
The Undershepherd’s wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Ogundayo, also expressed her gladness over the turnout of students and some adults in the church that gathered for the event and described picnics as “her favorite occasion”.
She encouraged the students to be of good behavior and also respect constituted authorities.
Dr. Susan Kolawole of the Guidance and Counseling Department, University of Jos, who is a Deaconess in the church, encouraged students to “always attend lectures, do assignments, strike a balance between church and academics and to be good disciples of Christ”.
Being the Deaconess in charge of discipleship, she promised all the final year students four discipleship booklets each so as to win souls for Christ during their Service year.
The event was graced by Pastor Mike Oluwaniyi and his wife, Mrs. Mona Oluwaniyi also admonished students to be of good conduct wherever they find themselves.
In an interview with the President of the Fellowship, Moses Adeleke of the Guidance and Counseling Department (400 Level), he expressed his joy over the turnout of the occasion and its success. He charged the students present to be “studious and do things in love”.
In the words of Simi Joy, a 200 Level student of Education, “the event was really a great one and she enjoyed herself to the “fullest”. “Seriously, I enjoyed myself and seeing one of the tourist attractions in Plateau State is an amazing thing because I am based in Kaduna State. All thanks to BSF.”
The highlights of the event include site- seeing around the Park, games, playing of scrabble, card games, chess, monopoly, drama presentation, names memorization, a barbeque, eating and drinking and lots more.
Students within and outside the Calvary Baptist Church attended the picnic.
