Day by day, it is becoming a growing phenomenon for youths to turn into celebrities and artistes while still in school as this can be said of some university students who are diverting into music and many other artistic talents.
As twisted as it is, we find Taylor Anga, a 400 level student of Computer Science of this institution. He is popularly known as Lord Blaze who have followed in the footpaths of his predecessors by engaging in music. He recently released his first music video on the first day of this year and the audio at the end of last year where he featured Izah. The album titled Adawa which is a Hausa slang which symbolizes what he means as “haters where some people will for no reason be against somebody”.
In an interview with the Nasarawa State born artist on why he is venturing into music instead of inventing computer software and tools, he categorically said that music is quite different from science and “for me, computer science is my profession but music is my passion”.
“Ever since I was growing up, I had always wanted to be a musician but where will it be heard that a member of my family is into music as in my family, there are protocols that need not be broken. My father, being a principled man, will always want you to do things in a corporate way. ‘Wear your neatly pressed shirt and let it be neatly tucked in’ but that was not my case as I found myself always wanting to be different and trying to emulate some of the artists on television like Eminem and their likes”.
“Although, the initial music I was working on was quite different but when some issues started arising at home and me looking into the society, I discovered people do certain things for some certain reasons and people fail to understand the reason behind people’s action and I was like if this is what our society is turning into, there should be a restriction as to what people can say concerning a certain individual and not just concluding on people matter like that”.
Speaking with his producer Marizy, he commended Lord Blaze as a cool guy to work with, unlike some artists who may be temperamental. “Others will stress you but he is so cool. I will always look forward to working with him more”.
