The Head of Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Sarah B. Lwahas, has warned the new Executive Officers of the Association of Mass Communications Students (AMCOMS) to avoid ‘unnecessary spending’.
She made this known during the brief swearing-in of the 2016/2017 EXCO of AMCOMS in her office at the Faculty of Arts, Naraguta Campus on the 12th of April, 2017.
She also added that they should always hold congresses for the students so that they can share ideas, be of good conduct and always liaise with the Department in discharging their duties. She counseled that the traditional Departmental Dinner should not be held at night and they must learn from the lapses of the immediate past EXCO.
The HoD stressed the need them to work towards the Leave a Legacy Project in the Department and the institution generally as she congratulated the new EXCO.
The Oath of Office was administered by the Staff Adviser, Mr. Raymond Goshit, after which, he instructed that every student in the Department including the executives ‘must pay their departmental dues’ before they get the departmental course registration form’.
Mr. Goshit also said that a meeting will be scheduled with the new EXCO and the immediate past EXCO to intimate them on the affairs and status of the Association.
The new President, Mapak Lucky and the new Secretary General Nendunu Christopher in their remarks thanked God and the entire AMCOMS family for the ‘great opportunity to serve them’.
They promised to work together with other executive members ‘as a team to take the great association to the next level’.
The new EXCO are President, Mapak Lucky Jerry, Vice President Tyornaan Dawal, Secretary General Nendunu Shanding Christopher, Assistant Secretary-General Simi Veronica Musa, Treasurer Luret Dakum, Financial Secretary Damulak John, Director of Sport Ajang Japheth, Director of Socials Jennifer Dachan, Library Secretary Josephat Kingsley, Provost Marshall Sadiq Ponsak and the Public Relations Officer Timkat Victor.
