The Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Ishmael Ogboru, has released a press statement with specifics on the sales of forms into various positions of the Students Union Government (SUG).
The Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Ishmael Ogboru, has released a press statement with specifics on the sales of forms into various positions of the Students Union Government (SUG).
The statement states that it will cease sales on the 12th of June 2017, and according to the Office of the Dean of Students Affairs other processes will immediately commence in anticipation of the election which has been scheduled for next month, being July.
“The timetable for the election will be strictly adhered to as verification and screening of candidates will begin on the 12th to 26th of June, while the results of the screening will be released on the 27th of June.
“Receipts of complaints arising from the verification/screening will be held on the 28th and 29th of June. Following the release of results, the manifesto of successful aspirants will be held on the 30th from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.
“The executive election will take the stage on the 4th of July, after which will be the receipt of elections complaint/petition on the 5th to 6th of July from 8:00 to 4:00 daily.
“Swearing in / hand over will be on the 7th of July, 10:00 am.
The statement reveals that final year students are not eligible to contest for positions in the Union and the same applies to 100 level students, except for only positions in the parliament. Also, students C. G. P. A will be checked and the 30% reserved seats for female students will be strictly adhered to, of which positions include the office of the vice president, treasurer and deputy speaker.
