Before the ravaging coronavirus pandemic, students sit beside each other without nose masks to receive lectures and most times, the lecture rooms are populated.
The advent of the coronavirus has changed everything.
In a bid to maintain social distancing and other COVID-19 protocols, the Department of Mass Communication, University of Jos, has adopted dividing classes into sessions or an alternative of using larger halls where the students would be well spaced.
Large classes are divided into three to four sessions with the students attending the lectures batch by batch.
Speaking with a 300 level Mass Communication student, Doris Dimka, she commended the Department for the safety measures they took to ensure the safety of students.
She stated that she preferred classes in sessions because she gets to listen to lectures better. Others complained that they have to wait for two sessions before it’s their turn.
