UNIJOS APPOINTS FIRST FEMALE REGISTRAR

The 14th Governing Council of the University of Jos has appointed Dr. Rejoice Songden as the first female Registrar of the institution since its establishment.

Until her appointment, which is for a term of five years, she was the Registrar of Karl Kumm University, Vom, Plateau State.

A statement, by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications, Abdullahi Abdullahi, noted that Songden was the Deputy Registrar in the Senior Staff Establishment Division of the University before she took a leave of absence to serve as a Registrar at the Karl Kumm University.

Songden, from Pankshin Local Council of Plateau, has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English from the University of Jos in 2002 and a Masters of Arts (MA) in English from the same University in 2012. She later enrolled in the same institution for a Doctoral programme in English, which she successfully completed in 2018. She also has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).

She joined the University of Jos in 2005 as an Administrative Officer II and rose to the rank position of Deputy Registrar in 2020.

Her appointment took effect on June 24, 2022.
