The President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) the University of Jos, Joseph Adankala, recently lauded the Federal Government for the infrastructural development in the institution.
Adankala stated this during the commissioning of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TET–Fund) 2020 special intervention projects. While appreciating the Federal Government for responding to the challenges of students by providing enabling environment for learning, he added that accommodation issues has been a problem In the institution but with this development, students who are off-campus can now have a comfortable place.
Commissioning the projects, the vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Tanko Ishaya observed that the need for Tertiary institutions in the country to improve the quality of academics and research for the growth and development of the education sector cannot be over-emphasized.
Prof. Ishaya appreciated the Federal Government for siting these projects in the institution and noted that it will go a long way in providing comfort for the students and also an enabling environment for research.
Director of physical facilities of the institution, Arch. Halima Auta commended the quality and speed at which the contractor undertook the assignment and also ensured that best standard practices were adhered to.
Handing over the project to the VC, the project manager, Arki – Trendz consult, Samuel Adejumo thanked the university administration for finding them worthy to serve in that capacity and assured them of their readiness to continue to partner with them.
The projects commissioned include a laboratory in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, 500 capacity Auditorium at the Department of Agriculture as well as a 144-bed capacity of both male and female hostels.
