The University of Jos has hosted the 8th edition of the Nigerian Idol, campus tour. The event took place at village hostel, from Thursday, the 13th of April to Friday, the 14th of April with Osas Blessing Esosa emerging as the winner of this edition.
The program which has become a popular event on Nigerian campuses has created tons of opportunities for young artists to showcase their talents and has served as a discovery platform.
The program was sponsored by quite a number of Nigerian brands; DStv, BiGi, TomTom, and Multi-choice. While the winner took home the whooping sum of five hundred thousand Naira, there were consolation prizes from the sponsors to the other participants who made the show fun either by singing, dancing, or hyping the dancers.
The show started on Thursday with students auditioning in front of the judges and a live audience. At the end of the audition stage, 30 contestants qualified to perform at the grand finale.
At the grand finale which featured the amazing MC Ejeh and the groovy DJ Slim, contestants were given 2 minutes to perform in each round until continuous eviction produced a winner.
All the contestants were amazing but there was only room for one winner. Ms. Esosa who stole the hearts of the judges and crowd was all smiles at the end of the competition. It was also an exciting night for the first runner-up who got the sum of a ten thousand Naira and a headset from the organizers.
