FASA ELECTIONS: THE RACE BEGINS

As the Faculty of Arts Students Association (FASA) slates its annual elections for the end of the semester, students of the faculty have observed that canvassing for votes every year is not an unfamiliar cycle because change is always inevitable.

In response to this, aspirants to the various positions have swung into action, declaring their interest and soliciting for support from their fellow colleagues and faculty members.

UniJos Echo sampled the thoughts of some of the aspirants and their vision for the faculty.

Aaron Kolo, a 300-level from the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages, indicated that he possesses the zeal, sacrifice and vision to improve the image of the faculty in the university.

Moses D.G, a 300-level student from the Department of Theatre and Film Arts, who is also an aspirant for the position of  FASA president also indicated that he will create a scholarship scheme for all students with outstanding performance. 

On delivering free and fair elections to Fasites, Ayuba Doekyil, Sectary-General FASA and a 400-level student of Mass Communication, reiterated the readiness of the student body to conduct and ensure a smooth process.

According to him, the outgoing administration is putting measures in place to introduce online voting as a strategy to improve voter participation and transparency.

The Secretary-General further disclosed that the current FASA government has plans to change the narrative of the high cost of electioneering processes which involves spending on voting materials and those of the aspirants.
