LinkedIn Local Hosts First North-Central Nigeria Event at University of Jos

LinkedIn Local, a community of users for the business and employment-focused social media platform is holding its first biggest offline LinkedIn event in the North-Central region of Nigeria at the University of Jos.

The event which is holding at the Mallam Adamu Adamu Lecture Hall at the Naraguta Campus of the University with the theme, “Bridging the Gap Between Education and Employment” and is coming after several editions were organized in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Oyo, Owerri, and Ondo states.

The theme of the event is in line with LinkedIn’s ideology of connecting and equipping users, particularly students’ of the University of Jos, to train them to become professionals in their fields, and also help them build a networking community where industry trends and in-app global best practices are discussed and deliberated upon.

According to the host, Sodunke Williams Tomide, a digital marketing expert and LinkedIn growth strategist, “LinkedIn Local – Jos (LLJ) came to be as a result of the yearning to bridge the gap between education and employment, hence the theme, Digital Skills and Networking: Bridging the Gap between Education and Employment.

He added that this was a shared vision with Co-convener, Oluwamayowa Kolawole who is an Executive Virtual Assistant and a professional business developer.

Tomide stated that the event is targeted towards educating over one thousand individuals on the importance of cultivating digital skills and the significance of networking in the world’s biggest digital job market for optimal productivity where traditional knowledge and a college degree are no longer sure paths to successful and fulfilled careers.

The event will feature resource persons David Daser, Director, Startup Growth and Public Policy at nHub; Murtala M. Abdullahi, Founder Smart Web Nig. Ltd.; Tabita Hris, Founder Hris Care International Foundation amongst others, as keynote speakers who will not only share their wealth of experience from different professional fields but also reveal practical secrets on how students can harness the digital space to serve their purposes.

The event is a hybrid event, catering for both online and offline guests at the University of Jos.
