The Gamji Memorial Club Unijos organized its 3rd coronation ceremony alongside its annual Gamji Day celebration. The event was held at the permanent site Red Chamber, Social Science Faculty University of Jos, on Saturday 11th November,2023.
The event had a theme that encapsulated Youths being proactive and having good judgments towards the usage of social media across the country.
Youths as the backbone of every society are also charged to desist from being weapons and pawns politicians use for political gains But as weapons of democracy as a driving force to good governance and to also use their talents effectively.
Honourable Jamilu Lawandi Datti, Governor of the club made this call while speaking at the coronation ceremony of the Gamji Memorial Club, University of Jos.
“Gamji Memorial Club is a forum meant to carry on the Good legacies and exemplary leadership of late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardaunan of Sokoto and first premier of Northern Nigeria”, he said.
“It is important to note that youths should be the epitome of humility who will always strive to promote unity and love amongst believers of all faiths, charging them to encourage peaceful coexistence among the populace”, he added.
Likewise, the present condition of Nigeria requires training and retraining of youth for better service delivery, urging them to emulate the virtues of the late Ahmadu Bello Sardaunan Sokoto.
He similarly reiterated that for the youths to progress in their various endeavours and become useful to themselves and society in general, there’s a need to adopt the lifestyle of the late Sardauna of Sokoto.
Highlights of the coronation include a cultural display, from the Kanuri cultural group, the Fulani and the Hausa, speech presentations, and the launching of a magazine among others.
Furthermore, the Makama of Jos North, Sir Sani Muaza stated that the purpose of the event is to Foster legacies left by the former Premier Northern Region late Sir Ahamadu Bello, he urged youths to emulate the work ethics and values of Sir Ahamadu Bello.
The event had in attendance dignitaries such as politicians, businessmen, and traditional title holders such as Makama jos North sir Sani Muazu, Mariam Muhammed Gamji/ Sarauniyar of the department, Mallam Mujtaba Sarkin Dawaki (Plateau state jos North ) Governor Gamji Royal club; Honourable Jamilu lawandi Datti, parents, youths and students from within and outside the University of Jos.
