Students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering University of Jos, on Friday the 17th of November 2023, visited Nasco Groups of companies on an excursion.
The department organized the excursion to enable the students to relate the basic knowledge taught in class with the practical aspects of mechanical engineering.
The department made provision for buses to convey the students to and fro to ensure their safety throughout the excursion.
”We went for this excursion to foster the learning process of the students of the mechanical engineering department,” said Ishola Joshua, a student of the department who was present at the excursion.
During an interview with one of the students, she disclosed that the excursion marked a new development and progress for the department as it will enable them to learn both the theoretical and practical aspects of the course.
Also speaking with Emmanuel, a student of the department, highlighted some of the things he learned during the excursion which included electrical and mechanical construction and also the practical aspect of their course as they only deal with the theoretical aspect in class.
In attendance at the excursion is the faculty president of the faculty. This emanates good leadership and representation as it speaks well of the faculty and institution at large.
The students were in their mechanical overall which according to one of the students speaks highly of them as it is a significant representation of the firm.
The excursion which lasted for 7 hours was worth it as students were able to see and learn some of the practical aspects of mechanical engineering. the students got the opportunity to take pictures of them during that period. This serves as proof and remembrance for them.
The director of the company said the students will learn a lot of things from the company which happens to have first-class facilities and is second to none in the state. Adding that it is open to all who want to acquire skills.
