UNIJOS: Adamawa Triumphs 3-0 Over Kogi in Inter-State Football Clash

The 2023 edition of the non-indigenous football tournament witnessed a fascinating game between Adamawa State and Kogi State. The match which took place at the P.G Hostel Football field ended 3-0 in favour of Adamawa State.

It was a game full of individual performances as the like of Zamani showed great class, the moment of brilliance came just 17 minutes into the match as Zamani took his Chance and converted it as quickly as possible 11 minutes later, Zamani doubled the lead Adamawa state thanks to a very wonderful solo performance from the Adamawa star man. After the half-hour mark, Adamawa got the third and last goal of the game nicely slotted by Kacy.

 

Kogi State began to pile up pressure but were not clinical enough to get themselves even a cancellation goal, despite leading 3 – 0 Adamawa State still entertained their fans by not sitting back to defend; they even grew dangerous anytime they attacked.

The game eventually ended 3-0 in favor of The better side Adamawa State.

The head Coach of Kogi State attributed their loss to a shortage of practice time, citing the demanding academic commitments of his student-athletes as a significant obstacle.

In an exclusive interview, Adamawa’s star player, Zamani, told Unijos Echo “It’s a good game; we were the better team. We did what we were supposed to do, and we look forward to meeting the next set of opponents, hoping to emerge victorious once again.”

The center referee praised the overall quality of the game, he also highlighted a lack of coordination from the Kogi side. He also acknowledged a seamless refereeing experience with no major challenges encountered.

The University of Jos football community now eagerly awaits the next chapter in this thrilling season, meanwhile Adamawa team on the other hand will hope that their dominance will continue when they take on their next opponent.
