During his address, Acting HOD Dr. Mabugu underscored the importance of diligence, urging fresh students to prioritize their academics, and steer clear of cultism, prostitution, and other social vices.

“I would love to welcome our new students to the University and Department of History. It is my honor to welcome all of you. I must urge you to uphold the tenets of this prestigious department and also, the department. We have a track record of exporting credible students who are the right shapers of society and so, have that at the back of your mind that you expect to be right”, he said.

Offering advice to the newcomers, 300-level student Covenant Dalyop stressed the importance of making wise choices to navigate both the academic and social aspects of university life. He acknowledged the challenges students face but encouraged them not to let setbacks hinder their success, urging perseverance until the end.
