The National Association of Agricultural Students (NAAS) has unveiled its first ever official jerseys in a move towards repositioning sports and cultivating athletic spirit among the students.
The Director of sports of the association, Adikaba Danjuma Achigak, disclosed during the official launch of the sporting jerseys that the initiative is aimed at reshaping the faculty’s sports arm to enhance pride and facilitate sporting excellence.
Danjuma who was filled with joy for fulfilling his campaign promise explained that the initiative will enable students to wear uniform jerseys during matches and competitions which will give them sense of uniqueness and belonging.
“I’m greatly indebted to have implemented my campaign promise of getting a sporting jersey for the Faculty, Our official jerseys are ready! We won’t hesitate to put them on during matches and competitions. I believe that will symbolise unity”. He stated.
He further revealed that they have made free jerseys for the Dean, President and Director of sports, while there are also provisions for interested students within the faculty to purchase for four thousand naira with their desired names and numbers written on them.
The Dean of the faculty, Prof Gworgwor Nuhu, reacting to the development expressed his satisfaction about the initiative by the executives, while encouraging them to do more.
“I’m enthused by this brilliant initiative and I must encourage the executives to maintain the standard by doing more”. He advised.
Subsequently, the Director of sport assured everyone that the jerseys will be greatly maintained under his watch and that it is just the first of many more things to come.
“This Jersey launch is just the first seed sown. The Faculty of Agriculture’s commitment to its students goes beyond jerseys. With continued support and innovative ideas, the future of the faculty’s sports programs is looking brighter”. He affirmed.
