The Association of Mass Communication Students (AMCOMS) football team lost 2-1 against the Philosophy Students Association (REPSA) in a friendly match played at the PG field of the University of Jos.
The match which recorded a large turnout out of enthusiastic students started with a fast pace with both teams eager to claim victory over each other. AMCOMS team were in awe and shock when REPSA’s Striker Michael Julius drew the first blood with a beautiful strike to put his team in an early lead.
The second half saw a battle of wits with each team showcasing impressive teamwork and determination. The AMCOMS team will however not wait long to level parity when Mark (Harmless) secured an equalizer in the 55min into the second half with a thunderous strike.
The atmosphere did not take too long to get blurry as REPSA’s Striker Michael scored another goal making the score line 2-1 in the 3rd quarter of the game. The goal eventually sealed the win for REPSA with Michael ending the match with a brace.
Speaking to Unijos Echo, a disappointed Emmanuel Fasyit said, “Football is thrilling, fun, and sometimes disappointing. When your team wins, you feel happy, but when you lose, you feel sad. That’s just the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with football. But kudos to my AMCOMS players – we can do better next time”
The Director of Sports AMCOMS, God’spower Chikezie Solomon commended the effort of both teams, describing it as a ‘good display’. He also added that the match was organized solely to bring both departments together to foster good relationships and rapport between them, “I will say that the mission of this match is accomplished”. He also encouraged the AMCOMS football team that they could do better next time.
