Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly makes generous donations to NANGS

The Speaker of Plateau State House of assembly, Honourable Gabriel Dewan, has made a generous donation of five hundred thousand naira to the National Association of Ngas Students (NANGS), University of Jos chapter, at a congress held at the Red Chamber of Faculty of  Social Science.

Honourable Dewan, who graced the occasion with his presence, gave the financial support and inaugurated the committee set up by the association to ensure smooth planning of the forthcoming Ngas cultural day celebration.

The speaker in his benevolence also supported two visually impaired students present at the congress with the sum of twenty thousand naira each and hundred thousand naira was also given to the officials of the association to enable them get cooking gas for the less privileged. In his words “I feel elated to identify myself with them, because we’re stronger together “.

He went further to encourage every member of the association to keep on the good work by embracing love and unity among themselves irrespective of their differences.

Talshark Richard, former presidential aspirant of Student Union Government (SUG) expressed gratitude to the speaker for his philanthropic gestures, asserting that no one has ever been so intentional about them before. He further suggested the idea of establishing a Cafe in order to generate income for the day to day running of the association and also assist students who are yet to pay their school fees.

Honorable Dewan assured them of supporting the project of establishing the cyber cafe as he believed it will go a long way in supporting the students.

In addition, the president of the association Gopye Christian Nenrit, in his closing remark, appreciated the speaker for honouring the invitation inspite of his busy schedule, while also applauding all NANGS members present at the event.

Fatyitmwa Bala, a 300 level student of the department of mass communication expressed joy over the speaker’s support towards the association. She said “I am inspired by his commitment to supporting the association and its members, as you can see everyone is excited to hear about the new initiatives that would be put in place to benefit the association.
