The Federation of Igbo Students Association (FISA), University of Jos, has officially welcomed the newly admitted students of 2022/2023 session with special/Orientation programme held at the Red chamber hall, Faculty of law.
Welcoming the new students to the University, The staff adviser of the association, Associate Professor Victor Anyangu, congratulated the freshmen for their admission urging them to commit to their academics with dedication and discipline.
He disclosed that the essence of the orientation was to acquaint the new students with the University environment and the rules that governed it, so as to ensure they stand firm and not find guilty of bad conduct.
The President of association, Austin Azubuike, explained the need to blend the leadership of the association with their culture as their duties as an association stretches as far as making decisions that represent the Igbo students of the University. He pointed out that the leadership of the association holds more power when it flows hand in hand with their culture and traditions.
Shedrack Herbert, a 100 level student of the department of education revealed that the orientation was indeed impactful. He said “Even with prior lesser expectations, I got the best the programme any fresh student can get it, if the association continues to carry everyone along using this channel then greater things are sure for all Igbo students of the University of Jos”.
The programme which took off as a part of regular process of enlightenment of Igbo students into the University environment also feature mix of culture and tradition that highlight the display of the Igbo cultural dance and the coronation of Chisom Sopuruchi Okoye and Isiguzo Onyinyechi juliet as the High chief and Lolo of the association.
