Unijos PANS kick-starts 29th annual week programme, holds medical outreach

The Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian students (PANS),Unijos chapter, has commenced its 29th annual week programme today at the University of Jos Main Campus.

The week is set with the aim of harmonizing the pharmaceutical journey alongside a blend of skills, passion and innovation in students’ success, thereby expanding the realm and infusing creativity, skills and innovation, resulting in the birth of groundbreaking Pharmacy students.

The keynote speaker of the opening ceremony, Daniel Bott, a senior procurement and supply chain expert, in his speech established grounds for the harmonization of hard and soft skills creating a blend of technical skills such as dispensing, prescriptions, evaluations, computer skills and communication. He also applauded the technologically inspired club ‘pharm tech’ for their digitalized pharmacy programming and technically developed software.

The 34th President of the Faculty, Rambong Gideon, highlighted that the combination of skill and passion alongside finding creative ways of doing things will go a long way in helping student succeed as a pharmacy student.

Meanwhile, as part of activities marking the week, 400 level students of the Faculty right outside the venue of the opening ceremony, held an awareness programme on Hepatitis B virus and the various means of contractions. Students were enlightened on a major flow of contraction through fluids, while testing and vaccination were carried out on interested individuals in collaboration with the Plateau State Specialist Hospital.

Similarly, the PAN’s magazine also became a success as a lot of individuals and dignitaries made monetary donations to begin the purchase.

Sunday Audu Nuhu, a student of the faculty disclosed that the event has exposed him to new innovations and how to succeed in the field of Pharmacy, thereby raising his expectations for the PANS week.

In attendance were notable dignitaries such as Pharmacist Mizim Dating Haruna, a Senior Legislative Aide at the National Assembly in Abuja, Pharmacist Daniel Bott, a senior procurement and supply chain expert, Pharmacist Samuel Gyede, Deputy Head of the Departmartment and others.
