Unijos Agriculture Faculty sets off on field Adventure

The Faculty of Agriculture students, University of Jos, have yesterday set out on a three-day field trip to Call Servant to Serve (CSS) farm in Nasarawa state.

The field trip organised by the National Association of Agriculture Students (NAAS), University of Jos chapter, is aimed at exposing the students to practical and real world learning experiences beyond the confines of the lecture halls.

The Head of Department Animal Production and Supervisor of the trip, Dr Uchele Okpanachi explained that the essence of the trip was to give students the opportunity to experience the practical aspects of the course. “The students would be engaged in farm training and zoo visits,” he said.

Similarly, the President of NAAS, University of Jos Chapter, Maxwell Olotu, revealed that the field trip was solely sponsored by NASCO Company and certificates will be awarded to students at the of the programme. “Students accommodation, feeding and leisure hangouts have been sorted,” he added.

He further assured that provisions have been made to guarantee the students’ security throughout the three days.

Joy Lamidi, a 200 level student of the Faculty, expressed her delight of the field trip and looked forward to breaking grounds for more Agricultural practices.

In the same vein, Blessing Enemuo, a 300 level student of the Faculty, also expressed her joy for the expedition and wished the field trip yields good outcomes.
