The Association of Mass Communication Students (AMCOMS), University of Jos chapter, has rounded off its departmental week with an adventurous hike at the Shere Hills, Lamingo, Jos, Plateau State.
The hike, which was the last event of a series of activities lined up for the 6-day-long students’ week, is aimed at promoting relationships among Mass Communication students and exposing them to the beauty of nature.
The Director of Social (DOS), Zendi Letep Dabang, revealed that the hike was intended to foster unity and togetherness among the AMCOMSites. “The hike has given students an avenue to get to know one another and build good relationships,” he said.
He furthered justified that the hike was appropriate since it gives the students an opportunity to explore their surroundings and understand them better.
Maurice Dennis Gandada, a 300-level student of Mass Communication, revealed that he had a great time at the Shere Hills, as it gave him an opportunity to experience nature and build relationships with his colleagues from other levels.
Similarly, Olaku Favour, a final year student of the department, revealed that it was a great privilege, as it was her first time hiking. She said, “I’m elated to explore nature and see my fellow AMCOMsites have fun, establishing good relationships among ourselves.”
Okpunyi Faith Joseph, a 100 level student of Mass Communication, expressed her delight on the hike and revealed that she had fun with colleagues. She said, “It’s my first time and I must admit it indeed was worthwhile. I never knew I was going to enjoy the hike this much.”
