Sambo Nancwat Peter has been declared the winner of Student Union Government (SUG) Presidential election, defeating his closest opponent Jerry Da’a.
The election results, announced earlier today, revealed Peter secured 1893 votes, while Da’a garnered 1218 votes.
Peter’s victory marks the end of Troy Dakon’s tenure, as he prepares to take over the reins of the student government. The campus buzzed with anticipation as students eagerly awaited the outcome of the highly anticipated election.
Expressing his gratitude for the support received, Peter pledged to lead with integrity and dedication, promising to address the concerns and aspirations of the student body. He emphasized his commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus community.
“I am most grateful to God, and the electoral process that led to my victory. I must commend the electoral process and also, appreciate the Trusted Experience team for their countless support towards making this a reality”, Sambo said.
“The emergence of my administration is to ensure that Jossites are ably represented and this is what will be carried out”, he added.
The electoral process was commended by students for its transparency and fairness, highlighting the university’s commitment to democracy and student representation. Despite the intense competition, the atmosphere remained congenial, reflecting the spirit of healthy competition and democratic engagement.
As Sambo prepares to assume office, students eagerly anticipate the implementation of his vision and the positive impact it will have on campus life. The University of Jos looks forward to a new era under the leadership of its newly elected SUG President.
