University of Jos breaks ground for ASR Sports Complex tomorrow

 The University of Jos will tomorrow hold the flag-off ceremony of the Abdul Samad Rabiu (ASR) Sports Complex in preparation for the 27th Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA) to be hosted by the institution later in the year.

The event is scheduled to take place tomorrow, April 23, 2024, at 10:00 am, behind the J.T. Useni Stadium, Naraguta Campus. The event promises to mark a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to sports development.

In a press statement signed by Abdullahi Abdullahi, Senior Deputy Registrar (Information & Publications), the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tanko Ishaya FBCS, FNCS, extends a warm invitation to staff, students, members of the university community, and the general public to join in this historic occasion.

The University management has secured ₦250 million Naira, a generous support of the Abdul Samad Rabiu Initiative for Africa Tertiary Education Grant Scheme (TBGS), to kick-start the construction of the state-of-the-art sports facility.

The ASR Sports Complex is poised to become a hub for athletic excellence, providing modern amenities to nurture sporting talent and promote a culture of fitness and well-being among students and faculty alike.

The ceremony is anticipated to be a vibrant affair, with university stakeholders coming together to witness the official commencement of construction and to celebrate the bright future of sports at the University of Jos.
