Former Federal House of Representatives member, Honourable Isaac Kyale Kwallu has inaugurated a digital billboard at the University of Jos Faculty of Engineering to mark a significant step towards improving campus navigation.
The Digital Billboard, which is the initiative of Senator Blepdong Hosea, a final year student, is aimed at aiding visibility and awareness of activities of Faculty of Engineering.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Project, Honourable Isaac Kyale Kwallu, expressed his deep appreciation of the creativity displayed in the billboard. He stated, “Most importantly, I am so impressed with the innovation and the ideas behind the Billboard. Sen Hosea astute recognition and proactive of a need for the project show his commitment for leadership based on selflessness and service”.
Honourable Kwallu thanked the Faculty for the hounour while also emphasising the value of servant leadership in bringing about constructive change in local communities.
Professor Daffi Rose, the dean of Engineering Faculty, in her remark, reiterated the important of the Billboard in providing visitors and students with important information. She said, “This initiative by Senator Hosea will actually provide an insight on how to locate the faculty of engineering”.
She furthered expressed confidence in the initiative’s ability to effectively inform stakeholders about departmental activities of the Faculty.
The initiator of the project, Senator Blepdong Hosea, explained that the inspiration for the project was drawn from his love for Hon. Kwallu’s leadership Style, which is always people’s centric. “Leadership should be about sacrifice out of the little you have,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to the students for their support in executing the project, at the same time stressed the impact of Hon. Kwallu’s earlier projects, such as funding for athletic events and scholarships.
Reacting to the new digital billboard, Faculty President, Steadfast Agoro, commended the initiative, disclosing that it will help with navigation around the Faculty. “The digital billboard is going to significantly improve visibility and awareness of the whereabouts and activities of our faculty. It will play a crucial role in providing newcomers with guidance and informing everyone about significant announcements and happenings” he said.
Similarly, Ezeodumegwu Chibuike John, a 500 level student also of the faculty, heaped praises on the initiator of the project. He said, “Sen. Hosea deserves great praise for this great initiative. It demonstrates his commitment to enhancing our university experience and paying tribute to notable people like Honourable Kwallu. This endeavour, in my opinion, will have a long-lasting effect on our teachers and community”.
Subsequently, the Students Union Government (SUG) honoured Honourable Isaac Kyale Kwallu with an award in recognition of his unwavering support and contributions to the advancement of the faculty.
The excitement and camaraderie of the event highlighted the collaborative spirits which bring about positive change in the academic community. The digital display is a symbol of creativity and teamwork, and as such, its influence will likely be felt throughout the campus and serve as a lighthouse of advancement and harmony for future generations.
