The Faculty of Arts Students Association (FASA) has announced the election of its new executive officials during its general election, held on Friday 17th May, 2024. The leadership transition marks a pivotal moment for the student body as it continues to champion inclusivity, diversity and accountable governance within its student body.
Covenant Ezekiel Dalyop, has been elected as the new President succeeding Aaron Kolo, who is now revered as the Immediate Past President. Dalyop’s leadership is expected to bring fresh perspectives towards the association’s growth, and promote transparency within the faculty.
Furthermore, Domven Jacinth Favour, Mathias Asantu Kutal, Nanlung Nankpak Chirdan were amongst the newly elected executive officials. Also, Semali Tomuter Matthew and Tete Dauda Glory were unopposed at the polls.
Their diverse expertise within the spheres of student leadership is expected to robustly boost FASA’s mission to protect the reputation of its students, enhance unity, and deliver increased value to its members.
Under the new leadership, FASA aims to further its initiatives focused on honouring inclusivity and diversity on campus, which plays a significant role in the faculty. The association remains committed to its transformation policy, emphasizing inclusivity and growth within the faculty for all students.
In a statement seen by Unijos Echo, President-elect, Dalyop has promised that his administration would be centered on the collective efforts to promote faculty growth.
He noted that his administration as captured in his manifesto “Mirror of Creativity” will offer students a fertile ground for growth.
“The Faculty of Arts is undergoing a process of growth, and with each new administration, it endeavors to contribute to the development of the faculty. My administration, by the grace of God, comes with ideas aimed at promoting the growth of our esteemed faculty and maintaining its reach. Everyone has a role to play in the construction and reshaping of the Faculty of Arts”, he said.
As the next set of excos are set to resume office, high hopes are in place towards the future of the faculty.
