Students of the mass communication department in the faculty of social science, University of Jos made their voices heard on Wednesday last week as they trooped to the polls to elect new leaders, marking a significant milestone in the department’s political landscape.
From every corner of the campus, students streamed in as they queued patiently, clutching their votes in ballot boxes .
The voting exercise commenced exactly at 10:00 am and the hum of conversation gave way to a focused determination as students cast their ballots with a sense of purpose. The atmosphere crackled with energy, as candidates and their supporters mingled among the crowd, engaging in spirited discussions and last-minute appeals.
Despite the fierce competition, there was an unwavering commitment to fairness and transparency, a testament to the maturity and integrity of our student body.
Hours passed in a blur as the steady stream of voters were seen casting votes in their numbers, each ballot cast a testament to the power of democracy in action. The final votes were tallied, and the results announced.
Miss Weng Cabala emerged as the president of the department of mass communication against Akwashiki Godfrey Lover. while miss perpetual Pam won against Muldan Delman Ebenezer as the welfare secretary in the department as other positions were unopposed.
Amidst a chorus of cheers and applause, the winner emerged – a dedicated and passionate student whose vision for the department had resonated deeply with her peers. As she stepped forward to accept her victory, her words were imbued with humility and gratitude.
“I am deeply honored and humbled by your trust and confidence in me,” she began, her voice ringing out with sincerity. “I promise to serve with integrity, transparency, and inclusivity, to uphold the values of our department and work tirelessly to foster a vibrant and inclusive community.”
Her promises were met with resounding applause, a chorus of voices echoing their support for her vision. And as she made her way through the crowd, shaking hands and embracing well-wishers, it was clear that a new chapter had begun for our Mass Communication Department – one marked by unity, purpose, and a shared commitment to excellence.
