COKE STUDIO’S BEAT THE DROP CAMPAIGN THRILLS STUDENTS AT UNIJOS

Coca-Cola’s biggest music platform, Coke Studio, returned in grand fashion, bringing the Beat The Drop campaign to the Post Graduate Hostel residents at the University of Jos as part of its Campus Invasion Tour on December 6, 2024. The event attracted many students for a day filled with music, games, and excitement. The one-day event, held behind the hostel, featured thrilling live music performances, interactive challenges, engaging games, and refreshing Coca-Cola drinks.

Adeniyi Sunday, Coca-Cola’s Regional Campaign Supervisor, explained that the Campus Invasion Tour was designed to connect students with Coke Studio while empowering them through prizes, challenges, and games inspired by the Coca-Cola experience.

“Coke Studio’s Beat The Drop is about celebrating music, creativity, and the shared moments that bring us together. We’re excited to bring this experience to UNIJOS and thrilled by the students’ enthusiastic participation. This tour is our way of giving back to the students, using the joy and energy Coca-Cola represents,” Sunday said.

He further shared that the campus they visited before University of Jos was Benue State University, expressing hope that the event would expand Coca-Cola’s reach among students and showcase the benefits of the brand.

“We aim to create lasting connections with students through music, creativity, and shared moments. The Beat The Drop campaign is not just about fun, it’s also about showing the value Coca-Cola brings to their lives,” Sunday added.

Juliet Augustine, a student of Social Science Education and a resident of the PG Hostel, participated in the raffle draw and emerged as the winner of a headset. Reflecting on her win, she shared, “I was very excited because I wasn’t expecting to win, and my friend was the one who asked me to come and be a part of the event. I’m impressed with what Coca-Cola is doing by empowering people through this event.”

Bunkat Anastasia, a 400-level Mechanical Engineering student, shared how she bought a bottle of Coca-Cola to participate in the raffle draw and was thrilled to win a prize. “The event was such a memorable and fun one. I’m grateful to Coca-Cola for bringing this experience to our campus,” she said.

Tislo Daniel, another 400-level Mechanical Engineering student and a PG Hostel resident, expressed his appreciation for the various activities and rewards. “I’m so happy with what Coca-Cola is doing on campus. They brought so many amazing games, prizes, and music to UNIJOS. I played Squabble and was able to win a headset. Coke Studio is truly special!” He also added that being able to enjoy the event so close to the PG Hostel made it even more convenient and enjoyable.

Jedidiah David, a 400-level student of Library and Information Science, praised the event’s vibe and Coca-Cola’s ability to connect with students. “This event was one of a kind! Coca-Cola really knows how to connect with students. The vibe was unmatched, and I hope they come back soon,” he said.

The Coke Studio ‘Beat the Drop’ Music Campaign is an initiative aimed at reestablishing Coke Studio as a global music platform that promotes and celebrates music. Designed to uplift music enthusiasts across Nigeria, the campaign offers a blend of experiences and exciting rewards. Participants stand a chance to win prizes, including an all-expense-paid trip to South Africa for an exclusive musical experience and up to 75 million Naira in cash rewards. The campaign celebrates music fandom nationwide while creating an engaging platform for fans to connect with Coca-Cola.

The Coke Studio ‘Beat The Drop’ Campus Invasion Tour has attracted over 1,000 students across various campuses, including the University of Jos. The campaign, which toured eight institutions such as Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Ilorin, Benue State University, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Imo State University, University of Benin, Ibadan Polytechnic, and Olabisi Onabanjo University, featured thrilling music performances, engaging games, and an abundance of Coca-Cola refreshments.

More than 2,000 Coca-Cola cans were distributed to participants, who enjoyed over 20 different games, including trivia, raffle draws, chess, dance competitions, singing contests, and card games like Whot. The event also generated significant buzz on social media with the hashtag #BeatTheDrop, garnering over 4,500 mentions and thousands of likes.
